Is it possible for a virus to be embedded in a image?
How sensible are you regarding your device security? If you are concerned, you don’t have habit of opening the files and attachments from unknown sources. Such attachments might be for phishing purpose or for any vulnerability attacks.
It is necessary to authenticate the sender’s information before opening any file. Generally, we do not pay more attention when there is photo. We assume like it’s a normal photo, see it and download to the device in many case. But it’s not like what we think, the photo itself may be malicious and may be fatal for our device. There might be the chances of data theft.
The latest study of Cyber Security Company Check Point reports the most popular social media site instagram vulnerability. The test proved that the crafted photo was able to hack the instagram account. However, Facebook has claimed it has recently introduced the security patch. After the study report of Check Point, Facebook added to its statement that not only instagram account but entire mobile phone might be of high risk because of such malicious photos.
It was found that, the malicious photo saved in the gallery had ability to attack the phone. Check Point said,” Mostly the malicious photos are shared via Whatsapp, iMessage, Andriod Messenger etc.” The photos are injected with many malwares such as Trojan horses said Ikram Ahmad, Check Point’s Researcher. The photo forwarded without saving in device causes less damage in comparison to damage caused by downloads. The crafted photos are made so attractive to draw attention of many people. Security concern should always be in priority in cyberspace. It is better not to download any suspicious attachments. Better to take precautions rather than realize it later.
